This committee oversees all financial affairs of the congregation to make sure that they are being conducted efficiently, giving particular attention to the prompt payment of all obligations and to the regular forwarding of benevolence monies to the synodical treasurer. It is subject to the approval of the Church Council, responsible for the congregation’s investments. This committee is also responsible for securing adequate property and other insurance necessary to prudent operation of the church.

 

Our Goal:  The Committee strives for equitable handling of the gifts first given us by our Lord to further Christ’s mission in the world.

Goals for 2018

1.  Provide a worksheet to the Council detailing our financial situation and the upcoming cash prognosis.  Let the entire Council know of our financial situation.

2.  Be deliberate in analyzing the survey results to come to general congregational conclusions. Our recommendation is to have 2-3 Council members join the president in summarizing the 6 pages of answers into a 1-page synopsis for the rest of the Council and the congregation.
3.  From a financial point of view, address change and start the conversation now.  Obviously our hope is that change isn’t needed, but we need to have conversations about where to cut from the budget if givings aren’t increased.
